How to use the discount calculator
Enter the original price of the item, choose whether your discount is a percentage or dollar amount, and add the discount value. If a store gives you a second discount, such as an extra 10% off clearance, add it as the optional second discount. The calculator applies discounts in order, which is how many online stores handle stacked markdowns. For example, 20% off followed by 10% off is not the same as 30% off.
Example
If a jacket costs $100 and the store offers 25% off, the discount is $25 and the final price is $75. If you add an extra 10% off after that, the second discount applies to $75, not the original $100.
When this tool is useful
Use this tool before shopping categories like Fashion & Apparel, Electronics & Gadgets, Home & Garden, and Beauty & Personal Care where percentage discounts are common. If you also need to add shipping or tax, use the final price calculator next.
